LINKS
By James A. Huizenga

By my very existence, solidly
I am linked to the beginning of time,
An unbroken chain that ties conscious me
To the first cell of primordial slime.
When those touched by me fade and none remain,
Will my imprint in time be a single
Dust pile quickly leveled by wind and rain,
Finally with all other piles mingled?
Will the words I've written arrive intact,
Blood given, through generations be passed,
Personal values improved but not cracked?
Will birth given genes, the end of time last?
No one's able to guarantee I will
Exist to the end of time, but "i" will.
