Mom's Diary - 1945

The words, thoughts and feelings of

Ruby Roberta (Roberts) Huizenga,

a 24 year old woman, married for 3 years, raising two children,

whose husband entered the U.S. Navy in November of the previous year.

(As transcribed by Jim, October 2002)

This diary was found among Mom's things after her death on October 16, 2002. A "Diary and Daily Reminder" book was used for these entries with three days on each page. The front of the book had a "Calendar for 1943" and in the back, one for 1944. Some of the November / December entries were damaged by the work of a hungry mouse, somewhere in the diary's history. The missing portions are indicated by (---). My comments are italicized and in parentheses (abcde). Items that I could not quite decipher or understand are indicated in italics. Spellings and other attributes (underlining, etc.) are as Mom entered them. All diary entries were in ink, except where noted.
